The Chinook Plus 2 is very popular; especially in Canada, and there are more than 1000 flying. The Chinook Plus 2 is a two-seater with a payload of 466 lbs with full fuel.

The folks at ASAP maintain a large inventory of parts, so they can supply current Chinook owners with anything needed and retrofit birds produced before ASAP purchased the design rights.

The Chinook Plus 2 was designed to utilize a 50-hp Rotax 503 or a 65-hp Rotax 582. With the 503, you'll see a cruise of 72 mph at 75% and a top speed of 85 mph. Rate of climb at gross weight is 1000 fpm.

The Chinook has a fully enclosed front so you are protected from the wind. Fuel capacity is 9 gal, provides a range of about 225 miles. You'll need about 200 to 250' for takeoff and 400' for landing. The Chinook can be equipped with wheels, floats, or skis.

This craft stands 5.8' high and is 17.7' long. It is constructed of tubing and fabric, and the suspension has been designed for rough field operation. Aircraft Sales and Parts, says his plane was designed to go anywhere and we believe it. The wing is the two sparred unit with cross struct bracing. The ribs are supplied preformed with specially designed ribbon ends that are simple to secure to the main stars. The wingspan is 32 feet with a wing area of 154.4 ft.?. The ailerons are full span, with built-in flaperons. Structural limits provided by the manufacturer are +6 and -3.5 G.'s. Stall speed is 32 mph.

Every component is pre-cut and predrilled, you won't need any special tools to build the Chinook +2. Empty weight is 380 pounds. The kit includes an illustrated construction manual and you'll get a video showing the folks at Aircraft Sales and Parts covering a Chinook from start to finish.

Build time is about 100 - 250 hours. The kit includes removable cabin doors, adjustable flaperons, conventional aircraft covering material, dual controls, dual fuel tanks, and instrument panel. A variety of engines are available to power the Chinook Plus 2, including the Rotax 503, Rotax 582, HKS, and Rotax 912.
