The Super Pup is an eye-catching replica of the J-3 Piper Cub, but the Super Pup has borne handy upgrades. As the company explains, it gives its pilot the look, the sound, the feel of a real airplane."

The Super Pup was introduced in 1985, Upgrades include a larger, 12-gal fuel tank, clipped wings, and a higher cruise speed. Additional amenities available are wheel pants, brakes, and the folding wing.

Flaps are optional. And don't worry, operating the Super Pup remains economical, boasting a fuel consumption of 1.8 gph. You'll need only about 300' to take off and 150' to land. It will climb at 800 fpm to a cruise speed of 85 mph (compared to a 60-mph cruise of the ultralight Pup) with the same four stroke, two-cylinder, 40-hp engine. Endurance is 6.5 hours on the standard 12 gallon fuel tank. The wingspan is 26 feet, length 13.5 feet, and height is 5 feet. Wing area's 104 ft.?, and the structural limits are +8 and -3. You should be able to stretch your legs out in the relative comfort leg room is 42.5 inches. The cabin is 22.8 inches wide and provides 39.5 inches of headroom. Gross weight is 630 pounds and payload with fuel is 228 pounds.

This bird is made of tubing and fabric and according to the company takes about 300 hours to build. You can buy the complete kit including engine, prop, and instruments. The company also offers a special builder assistance program. You may also build the Super Pup from plans. An info pack is available
 
ZOOM REPORT:
As I've said before, the Super Pup will give you more giggles per dollar than anything around. Agile, well-balanced surfaces offer excellent control. Good (actually better than good) ground handling and a fast 80 to 85 mph cruise make the Super Pup a super deal.
