If you have
done any research on ultralight or experimental light sport
aircraft there is one manufacturer's aircraft that you have
had to of come across, the Quicksilver series of aircraft.
The Quicksilver line of aircraft were what everyone came to
think of ultralight aircraft, and with good reason. |
|
|
The Quicksilver was the first
ultralight style of aircraft to be offered in a kit form
that could be built in as little as a week. They were the
first to provide an assembly manual that a builder could
actually work from! They were the first to develop a
packaging system for shipping kits that used vacuum sealed
cardboard sheets, which contained everything you needed to
get a kit up and flying.
They were the one of the first to establish a dealer network
that spanned the globe. And they were the first manufacturer
to produce a two place ultralight style aircraft for the
training market.
Since the mid 70's the Quicksilver line of aircraft has been
continually upgraded and updated. Quicksilver manufacturing
now offers the GT 500 and GT 400 in various configurations.
In the the MX series they offer the MXL II Sport, the Sport
2S, The MXII Sprint, The MX Sprint, and the MX Sport.
The latest in the Quicksilver evolution is
the Quicksilver Sport 2S. The 2S is a side by side seating
two place trainer. It features strut bracing, a nice wide
cockpit, a steerable nosewheel, with a center mounted stick
and throttle located on the left and right hand side of the
pilot seats.
The Quicksilver Sport 2S has
very docile flight characteristics, like all of the
Quicksilver line of aircraft. Power is supplied by the Rotax
503 and Rotax 582 two cycle aircraft engines, coupled to a
Rotax reduction drive. |
