Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit
into what are described as ultralight aircraft, advanced ultralight
aircraft,
light sport aircraft, experimental light sport aircraft, experimental
aircraft, amateur built aircraft, ELSA or homebuilt
aircraft in the United States and Canada. These include
weight shift aircraft, more commonly known as trikes,
powered parachutes, and powered para-gliders.

One of the cornerstones of the powered
parachute marketplace has been Powrachutes. Since 1999
Powrachutes has been manufacturing and selling their line of
ppc's through a dealer network.
Galen Geigley talked to me at Sun N Fun 2010 about some of
the things that have contributed to the success of
Powrachutes.
He points out that during the time that
sales were falling in the U.S. Powrachutes began
aggressively marketing their chutes to overseas markets,
like Israel, China, Austrailia, South Africa and the U.K.
The success of this campaign helped to stabilize the
companies business structure, and expanded the dealer
network from a North American focus to a world wide
distribution network. |

Galen also reports that Powrachutes puts "a
lot of time and money into pushing the envelope, to get new
buyers stimulated and involved in our sport." and expects to
have some very new and innovative products on the market
within the next couple of months. Another thing that his
company has taken on contracting of a new product for
another manufacturer. Last year Powrachutes entered into an
agreement to manufacturer a line of light sport aircraft
weight shift trikes called the Revo.
Currently Powrachutes manufactures five
different powered parachute models, with three of these
being two place models certified to the ASTM standards. That
are available as either LSA or ELSA models. The two single
place models are both part 103 legal weighing less than 254
lbs.
To keep up with the increasing growth
Powrachutes is in the process of building a new 14,000
square foot manufacturing facility on the Hastings Airport.
