John Kemmeries was at Sun N Fun with the latest a.r.v - (air
recreational vehicle) from Air Creation. The TANARG was
under design and development for over 4 years before being
introduced to the market.
It is aimed at those pilots wanting cross country travel
with all the comforts. The craft is the next generation of
trike, using the latest in CAD design technology, composite
materials, Rotax aircraft engines, and is built on a modular
wire mesh structure. |

John has been involved in the trike section
of ultralight aviation since the late 70's, and currently
operates an FBO flight school in Arizona. In the mid 90's he
went out and purchased a number of different trikes, and put
them through their paces to decided what unit he wanted to
use in his school.
The Air Creation trikes came out rated
number 1. Currently they produce 2 versions of their single
seat trikes plus 6 version of their two seat craft. The
latest model being the Tanarg. The Tanarg has a welded
stainless steel chassis, similar to that of a modern
motorcycle. Attached to the chassis are the swing arms for
the suspension system, and fuselage etc.
In the Tanarg your feet are no longer on the forks like on a
conventional trike. Instead they are on a rack pin steering
system. Which can be adjusted for pilots from 5' 2" to over
6' 8".
The Tanarg can be powered by the ROTAX
582, 2 stroke 65 HP engine equipped with an E gear box using
a 4:1 ratio and a four-bladed High Tech ARPLAST propeller.
It can also be equipped with the ROTAX 912 series of engines
which are equipped with a 2.43:1 reduction ratio and a
three-bladed ARPLAST propeller. These engine and prop
combinations are very efficient and quiet.
A variety of wings are available depending
on how the pilot wants to fly. With cruise trim speeds
ranging from 45 to 72 mph. Floats are also available for
those wanting to fly on water. Training bars are available
for the Tanarg, and rear seat controls for steering,
throttle, and ignition switch are standard. The craft comes
from the factory built ready to fly |
