Light Sport Aircraft Pilot is a directory of aircraft that generally fit
into what are described as ultralight aircraft, advanced ultralight
aircraft,
light sport aircraft, experimental light sport aircraft, experimental
aircraft, amateur built aircraft, ELSA or homebuilt
aircraft in the United States and Canada. These include
weight shift aircraft, more commonly known as trikes,
powered parachutes, and powered para-gliders.

The J6 Karatoo can be
built and flown in Canada as a basic ultralight, an advanced
ultralight, in both of these categories it could be built
from kit or purchased ready to fly it is also available as
an amateurbuilt aircraft. Jesse Anglin was the original
designer but kits were offered by Norman
Aviation of Saint-Anselme, Quebec.
The craft features side by side seating, strut bracing, in a
tractor configuration, with an enclosed cockpit, dual
controls, adjustable seats, and is a taildragger.
The aircraft fuselage is uses a 4130 chromoly welded steel
tubing. The wings feature wood construction and the plane is
covered in convention aircraft covering materials.
Power can be supplied by a variety of engines, including the
Rotax 582, Rotax 912 series of four stroke engines, as well
as a number of automotive engine conversions such as the
Subaru and Viking.
Building times range from 300 to 500 hours. |
