Advanced Aviation Carrera
Sleek is how I would describe the
Carrera. It offers a good power to-weight ratio and power-off
glide performance, as well as crisp handling response.
Mechanical brakes on the main gear also give it excellent
short-field performance. The side doors are removable for
flying in all seasons, and the Carrera is available in either
conventional or tricycle-gear configurations. |

52 ponies from the Rotax
503 DCDI allows the Carrera to pop off the sod in 175 feet as
well as land in 175. Top speed is 90 mph, cruise of 65, and
a service ceiling of 14,000 feet. The wingspan is 29 feet 8
inches; length, 22 feet 4 inches; height 7 feet.
This high-wing monoplane is made of
composite, tubing, am fabric, and it took only about 140
hours to assemble. The price of the complete kit including
all the bells and whistles (engine, prop and instruments)
was only $12,990 in 1993.
Zoom Report: I enjoyed flying the Carrera... It has
excellent control response with agile handling. The trike
gear is stable, but the taildragger version is a lot more
fun.
